The Daily Tribune –

Football is a game that never stops growing, even if the world temporarily stopped it over a year ago. In fact, the COVID-19 outbreak had pulled the chains for activity around the world. As always, the race to catch up came, albeit a little late, but the world is catching up.

Here in the Kingdom, too, there is positive progress, especially for football fans. As the COVID-19 curve drops, several plans are springing up to take the football game to the next level. One of them is the construction of five new football fields with artificial turf by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The news also comes as the kingdom weighs its chances for the upcoming World Cup.

The ministry is also planning to breathe new life into eight more football pitches here. The new artificial turf soccer fields are to be built in the Al Dair Club, Nuwaydirat Club, Bahrain Club, Al-Qadisiya Youth Center and Tubli Club, as a call for tenders for this week’s projects shows.

The playgrounds will have a field size of 40m × 20m. The ministry also plans to renew the turf on eight existing soccer fields. The project is to be carried out in two phases, with phase 1 focusing on the Budaiya Club, Ittifaq Club, Isa Town Club and Hamad Town Club.

Phase 2 is for Etehad Club, Sitra Club, Najma Club and Al Ahli Club. The tendering committee will announce the successful bidders by next month on the 8th. Separately, the ministry has also announced the construction of a new artificial turf soccer field in Ma’ameer. The floor will have a size of 105 x 68 m. A call for tenders for the work ends on the 7th next month.
