Employment opportunities in landscaping in Canada
Barbadians have two vacancies with an established leader in the commercial and residential landscape in Canada and those who are qualified are encouraged to submit their résumés to the Barbados Employment and Career Counseling Service (BECCS) by Friday, June 25.
The first is for the construction worker position. Interested persons should have a basic knowledge of construction practice and the operation of the associated tools.
You’ll need to perform maintenance, including mowing, hedge trimming, and fertilizing; Operate and maintain devices and tools; Cultivate and maintain plant beds, and perform physically demanding tasks such as lifting weights of 50 pounds and more.
Applicants should have a certificate in landscaping / horticulture or a related field; must have experience in landscaping, such as softscapes, hardscapes and woodwork, as well as at least three years of experience in landscaping.
The job also requires strong problem-solving skills, a good work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team. The ability to work outdoors in bad weather and the willingness to work longer hours, including evenings and weekends, are also essential requirements.
The second option is for the general maintenance worker position.
Individuals should know about basic maintenance practices and be able to perform maintenance tasks, including mowing, hedge trimming, and fertilizing. You should also be able to operate and maintain equipment and tools; Maintaining and caring for plant beds and performing physically strenuous activities.
Applicants should have a certificate in landscaping / horticulture or a related field and have at least three years of landscaping experience.
The job also requires good problem-solving skills, a good work ethic and attention to detail, and requires the individual to be a team player with a willingness to work longer evenings and weekends.
Individuals applying for these two positions must be at least 18 years old; Have a valid Barbados passport and be able to obtain a clean Police Character Certificate. In addition, they must be free of any violation outside of Barbados jurisdiction.
