LAYTONSVILLE, Md. – Montgomery County authorities say an explosion in a building in the Laytonsville area injured three people and badly damaged the building.

The incident was reported at around 8 a.m. this morning at a building at 23000 Laytonsville Road, part of the Ruppert Landscape Company headquarters, when an employee smelled gas.
Blast Damages Montgomery County’s Landscaping Company Building; multiple injuries reported
Montgomery County authorities say an explosion in a building in the Laytonsville area injured three people and badly damaged the building.
According to the fire department, three people were injured in the explosion – one inside the building and two outside. The person inside the building was rescued and flown to a nearby trauma center. Authorities say a second victim reported very minor injuries while a third reported more severe injuries.
The cause of the explosion is still being investigated.
