Horticulture Week Podcast: Lawncare Association’s David Hedges Gower speaks on Monty Don row and artificial turf

David Hedges Gower, founder of the Lawn Association, made headlines in March when he got into a no-mow argument with Gardeners’ world presenter, Monty Don. and it’s about the most harmful thing you can do to wildlife. “

The lawn expert hit back, saying Don was wrong and lawn care is now more environmentally friendly than the TV gardener thinks.

Hedges-Gower reveals how he and Don will never be friends since he is a lawn lover and Don is not.

Greener grass is looming, however, and the price of robotic mowers is dropping to replace gasoline mowers and campaigns that require plastic grass building permits.

Hedges Gower calls for more education on the benefits and uses of turf and a coordinated campaign against artificial turf, and comments on the unsustainability he believes that professional sports turf is unsustainable.

His work on heavily trafficked lawns at the National Trust’s Hidcote Garden includes replacing grass sport turf style.

He also criticizes conventional garden center weed and forage offerings and has launched True Range products which he believes are a better option for lawn lovers.
