Ladue residents want landscaping and construction noise limited on weekends | St. Louis News Headlines
LADUE, Mon. (KMOV.com) – Noise complaints in a local community could cause change. Ladue City Council is considering limiting construction and lawn mowing times after residents complained about weekend times.
“I think everyone needs a certain amount of peace and quiet, a certain amount of privacy in their lives. I need to take a closer look at the prescription, but my first reaction is that it’s probably a good thing, ”said Bango Herhold.
Herhold says he would like the morning hours to be limited on weekends.
“For a lot of people who still work, I’m retired, the weekends are a special time and it should be a quiet time. I think that’s not a bad idea, ”explained Herhold.
Construction noise is currently permitted from Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. The proposal lasts an hour on Saturday. Lawn mowing and landscaping would correspond to these times, with mowing allowed on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Don’t you have better things to do with our town and our county than worrying if someone lets go of their lawnmower an hour later? I think it’s ridiculous, ”said Laura.
Laura tells News 4 that she doesn’t think the proposal would affect her life. She says she noticed work noise early in the hour on weekends and would prefer that stop.
“Early in the morning on the weekend at 7? It’s ridiculous, but from 5pm to 6pm, who cares? ”Laura continued.
The Ladue City Council is still working on the proposal for the time being and is looking into what other regional cities are dictating. Click here for more info.
