Landscaping crews battle summer heat in Shreveport

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL / KMSS) – In the next few days, the ArkLaTex is preparing for a three-digit heat. For workers in landscaping or construction, the job requires them to be outside in the elements.

“The heat is tough for the boys,” said Sean Mastin, owner of Green Lord’s Lawn Service. “Everyone needs to stay hydrated.”

Before Green Lord starts a project, the team meets to discuss a plan for the day, especially given the very hot temperatures. On Wednesday, they mowed grass and pruned bushes in Towne Oaks South and repaired irrigation systems in the Superior Grill.

Unfortunately, some members suffered from heat exhaustion.

“They came here and gave everything they could. The heat defeated them, ”said Mastin.

In the next few days it is important that everyone take it easy in the heat. If you have to be outside for long periods of time, you need to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks. “We try to make sure everyone is safe. If we’re not hydrated and it’s too hot, we can’t get the job done. “
