LA CROSSE, Wisconsin (WKBT) – A landscaping project in our area is recognized for being water-friendly.

The ‘suck it up! The project prize was awarded to Waterview Apartments in 2019.

An inauguration for the project took place on Tuesday after a celebration for the project in 2020 was canceled.

Water from each downpipe in the apartments flows into a separate rain garden where water is stored.

Roush Rentals owns the apartments and wants to incorporate environmentally friendly features into their projects.

“As you can see on this project, it’s one city block from the Mississippi. So all the water falls from the sky and all the things that we have developed here. If we don’t purify and take care of this water, we’re polluting the river, ”said Nick Roush, President of Roush Rentals.

2021 is the fourth year of the “Soak It Up!” Award in La Crosse.
