Local landscaping business deals with multiple intrusions
Jordan Moritz says he moved his business from Toledo two years ago because of an invasion.
Millbury, Ohio – A local landscaping project that has existed for over 40 years was shared last month.
This is not the first time that Moritz’s landscaping has withstood this problem.
On Remoin Road, off I-280 from Lake Township, owners thought they didn’t have to worry about robbery or intruders. But it happened twice last month.
“They came in and removed the catalytic converters from all of the pickups, and the second broke into the building and started picking up the equipment,” said Jordan Moritz.
Burglary damage and loss totaled over $ 8,000.
Moritz runs a business with his father, who founded his company 47 years ago. They have been on the front streets of Toledo for 13 years, where they have invaded more than 30 times. So they moved two years ago.
“He thought it wouldn’t be a problem if he moved near the freeway here, but it wasn’t,” Jordan said.
The Lake Township Police Station is less than two miles away, and the Moritzs praise the suspects for helping them stop a second invasion before escaping with thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment.
The family added a camera to the building to prevent this from happening again. And they believe that others should do the same even if they are in rural areas.
“Just be careful. Lighting and security definitely help and we’re just close as a community,” said Jordan.
I think Jordan and his dad don’t have to worry anymore, but he says it can happen to anyone and should be prepared.
Lake Township Police said there were no comments at this time as an investigation was still underway.
