Master Gardeners will talk landscaping, shade during virtual presentations Thursday | Home/Garden

With the spring planting season approaching, you can brush up on your gardening skills or learn some.

The East Baton Rouge Master Gardener Association will deliver the virtual lectures “Landscaping 101” and “Gardens: Made in the Shade” on Thursday from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Zoom.

The program is free, but space is limited and prior registration is required. Register in the EBRPL event calendar at ebrpl.evanced.info/signup/calendar. Call (225) 231-3750 for registration assistance.

In Landscaping 101, master gardener Joyce Ryder explains, according to a press release, how to draw a basic landscape design and choose plants that suit the space and growing conditions.

For “‘Gardens: Made in the Shade”, master gardener Angie Wall shows how to turn a shady plot of land into a lush, green retreat by choosing plants that require speckled, partial or full shade. The talk includes advice on soil preparation and for shade landscaping with a special focus on shade plants that thrive in the Baton Rouge area, “the press release also says.

The lectures are the first in the Gardeners Association’s 2021 Library Series. For more information, please visit the EWC Master Gardener website (ebrmg.com) or email Nancy Jurasinski, nJuras1@lsu.edu.
