Muscatine FFA nursery and landscaping team wins state

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Congratulations on the Muscatine FFA. Yesterday they competed in three state competitions with five teams (including several from Junior High School) and had all of the teams in the top 10 of their respective career development events.

Floriculture has earned the third high team with Matthew Reissen Reserve Champion Individual Honor. Along with him, the team included Alyssa Hall, Anna Sharar and McKenna Kopf.

The high school horse jury won the entire reserve team. Leah Cortez was the ninth tall individual. Her teammates included Becca Potter, Emily King, and Maddie Fisher.

The middle school had two teams taking the middle school state horse judge exam. One of the teams became reserve national champion and only fell one point behind the national champion team. The other team finished third overall. Kensley Paul was the state champion in singles! Runner-up participants included Mallory Bruhn, Kelsey Heath and Alex Blair. On the third place team, Kensley Paul, Erin Overturff and Kiley Whimmer.

Finally, the Muscatine FFA Horticulture and Landscaping team was placed as the new national champion! Iowa State Representatives to the National include: Jamie Sprague, McKenna Riess, Belinda Brain, and Logan Rinnert. All four held their own in the top 10, with Logan 10th, Jamie sixth, McKenna third, and Belinda being their state champion!
