Plum High School baseball and softball fields get artificial turf

Work is underway to replace the baseball and softball fields at Plum High School with artificial turf.

Employees from Art Global, an artificial turf manufacturer, were working on the project on Friday, which was approved by the Plum School Board in April last year. At the time, the manufacturer won a $ 1.4 million contract to install turf on the baseball, softball, and soccer fields.

At the time of the contract, CEO Mike Devine said the turf needed to be replaced on the soccer field, adding, “Given the size of the project and the contracts we were able to close, the softball and baseball fields were upgraded from grass to turf made for this one Point in time just makes sense. “

Devine said replacing the baseball and softball fields with turf meant the fields would be low maintenance, aesthetically pleasing, and provide a state-of-the-art venue for students.

Work on the soccer field was completed last year. In December, district officials predicted that work on the baseball and softball fields would be completed this spring, weather permitting.
