Sweep deal: Calgary-based landscaping firm acquires Ottawa street-cleaning company
An Alberta landscaping company that last year partnered with an Ottawa outdoor property maintenance company is bringing a local street sweeper under its roof to expand its presence in eastern Canada.
Calgary-based Urban Life Solutions announced this week that it has acquired Richard’s Sweeping. The local company will merge with P. Munro Group, a maintenance company headquartered in Ottawa that merged its operations with Urban Life Solutions in November.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Richard’s Sweeping was founded in 1991 and provides street sweeping, street washing and dump truck service in Ottawa, Cornwall, Belleville and other communities in Eastern Ontario.
With more than 700 employees and customers in more than 100 locations in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario, and Quebec, Urban Life Solutions is one of the largest outdoor maintenance companies in the country.
CEO Steve Wheatcroft said the new deal supports his company’s strategy of growing through acquisitions.
“As we grow, it is important that we find quality partners like Richard’s Sweeping to further expand our brand and service offerings,” he said in a statement.
