The Turf: Ayrshire pub lives up to its name after installing artificial grass throughout boozer

A pub in Irvine lives up to its name after a lockdown makeover.

The bosses of the Turf Hotel on Eglinton Street have embellished their pub with artificial turf.

The sleek new look is part of a makeover of the popular drinker that reopened May 17 after local coronavirus restrictions were lifted.

Manager Anji Gray said, “We only decided to decorate the place four weeks ago, but we are very happy with the result.

“In addition to renovating the bar area, we’ve added a few new features, including a racing corner with betting slips and a new telephoto so customers can watch the horse races.

“We also paid a little attention to the name of the pub by lining the seating areas and window sills with artificial turf.

“The feedback from customers has been great so far and it has been great to welcome our regular guests and some new faces again.

“A lot of hard work has been put into making sure we can keep the pub open during these tough times and we wanted to make it even better.”
