Town’s landscaping law prohibiting gas-powered leaf blowers back in effect as of June 15 – Community News
North Hempstead City Manager Judi Bosworth and City Council members remind residents and landscapers that the city’s landscaping regulations will be back in effect from June 15th.
The regulations aim to reduce noise and air pollution from gas-powered leaf blowers. According to regulations, commercial landscapers are prohibited from using gas-powered leaf blowers from June 15 to September 15 each year.
Commercial landscaping is not permitted on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays and public holidays. These restrictions can be suspended in an emergency.
There are no restrictions on use on golf courses and cemeteries, unless the equipment is operated within 30 meters of a property with a residential building.
For more information or to report a landscaper violating these restrictions, please call the city’s 311 call center.
