Transforming green landscaping color palettes

Shrubs with yellow or gold foliage could be the pop of color you need in your landscaping palette.

There are a variety of options for sun and others for shade. If your landscape is mostly sun, consider Sunshine Ligustrum, Kaleidoscope Abelia, or Golden Spirea. These shrubs need plenty of sunlight to keep their golden color. If there isn’t enough sunlight, the foliage will turn bright green again.

However, if you have a more shady location, gold leaf anise like banana peel or Florida Sunshine have year-round chartreuse for yellow leaves. Another shade-loving plant is the Gold Dust Aucuba, the leaves of which have yellow spots and splatters.

A little yellow can go a long way, and planting golden and maroon plants side by side creates great contrast and can brighten any dark corner. Although too much yellow can distract the eye.
