Utility work will tie up traffic, uproot rotary landscaping
(June 24, 2021) DPW director Rob McNeil assumes that the traffic safety and the closure of the bike paths at the Milestone Rotary will last the whole summer, the culprit is a broken power pole.
National Grid discovered a break towards the top of the mast that carries power and telephone cables to the east end of the island last month. It was just being redesigned as another Department of Public Works project the bike path and open space between Milestone Road and Old South Road received their final touches.
The replacement of the mast, the dismantling and the reinstallation of the power and telephone lines should begin next Tuesday, block the cycle path in the area and cause traffic obstructions for weeks.
